In lithotherapy, angelite (or angel stone) eis a mineral belonging to the anhydrites family. In 1804, the German mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner chose its name to highlight the composition of the stone. Drawing his inspiration from the Greek term anhudros which literally means “without water”, he insisted on the absence of water in angelite’s chemical formula. The name angelite is the modern term attributed to this compound. It comes from the feeling of supernatural wisdom and fullness emanating from the stone. Its luminosity resembles the soul of an angel. Entering into communication with this aura brings a natural serenity.
In jewellery, angelite is a blue gemstone that is widely used as a cabochon inlaid on jewellery. The blue of the stone varies from pale blue to a more intense blue. It embellishes the jewellery stalls thanks to the bluish light that it confers on pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings. In arts, “The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices” pays tribute to this anhydrite by choosing in 1992 for part of its world-famous choir the appellation “Angelite – The Bulgarian Voices ” which brings together the 24 most beautiful Bulgarian voices.
Angelite is a mineral substance derived from sulphate, which is found in its natural state. It belongs to the evaporites group. This anhydrous crystal consists of calcium sulphate whose chemical formula is CaSO4. Angelite is predominantly blue. The presence of other metals sometimes modifies its colour by making it white, pink or violet. In jewellery and lithography, the bluish hue remains the most appreciated by connoisseurs of precious and semi-precious stones. In crystallographic classification, angelite has an orthorhombic crystal system. Its perfect cleavage allows a conchoidal to irregular fracture. Its brilliance matches the whole range from greasy to vitreous, including waxy and pearly stages. The stone’s line is clear, and is white or grey. With a hardness ranging from 3 to 3.5 on Mohs scale, its density is around 2.96.
Several substantial deposits are located in South America (Brazil, Peru and Mexico). Angelite is also mined further north in the United States and Canada. Europe is also among the notable deposits (France, Austria, Italy, Poland, Germany, Great Britain and Switzerland). Libya and Egypt also house interesting deposits.
In lithography, angelite stone connects you to the soul of your guardian angel who brings all its protection. The feeling of security and fullness is strongly present: children’s nights are more serene, for example. Self-confidence is strengthened and the users of this stone lover assert their convictions with confidence. By being in harmony with yourself, your propensity for compassion and openness to others is accentuated in a natural and spiritual way, in total peace and harmony. The stone’s flat shape allows it to be perfectly positioned on the throat chakra to which it is linked to treat the body and mind. Representing the heart of communication and the art of consciousness, this chakra is linked to our personality and allows us to evolve with confidence in an atmosphere of inner peace. In addition, it intervenes on the Crown and Third Eye chakras. The sign of Aquarius is the most receptive.
On the spiritual level, its peaceful energy expands perception and allows consciousness elevation. In lithography, this mineral possesses the power to bring out positive feelings in everyone to spread peace for oneself and for others. This stone of harmony is extremely fragile. It is therefore preferable to hide your jewellery by placing your bracelet under a piece of clothing to protect it for example or to keep it in a room of your house where you wish to spend peaceful times. The stone brings you the help to develop your spirituality and to recover calm in case of sorrows and anger. It is called the Stone of Truth because it soothes the soul during episodes of mental pain and sorrow. In order to enjoy the full benefits of the stone, it should be purified by immersing it in a slightly salty aqueous solution. After its use, you have to recharge it, letting it be illuminated by the natural power of the sun’s rays by placing it ideally on a heap of quartz which helps recharge energy.
Its lithography gratifies this stone with numerous virtues for the body thanks to its balancing aspect. Body fluids circulate more easily and body secretions such as those from the thyroid gland are regulated. This stone is highly recommended for fluid retention problems, which gives it a very useful effect if weight loss is desired. As a protector of the throat chakras, it is recommended for its benefits against throat diseases and pain related to thyroid disorders. It also intervenes when the thymus is disturbed. This stone also helps to soothe mild burns and soothes sunburn or infant diaper rash. At the osseous and muscular level, it also makes it possible to recover more quickly after a bone fracture, to calm joint pains and to reinforce dental enamel.
From childbirth, angelite stone is an ally for young mothers: it promotes milk flow and accelerates the establishment of breastfeeding. By bringing calm and serenity to the young mother and her baby, it calms maternal anxiety and reduces the risk of postnatal sadness or baby blues after childbirth. It soothes the baby during his phases of excitement and later, once he has grown up, it tempers the child who is experiencing an overflow of restlessness. For athletes, it promotes endurance and stability during exertion thanks to its notable medicinal virtues.
