Moldavite stone is a rock resulting from the impact between a meteorite and the earth’s atmosphere, which occurred about 12 million years ago in Moravia. However, the origin of this asteroid and the time it spent in space before colliding with the Earth have not been determined. It is estimated that during this collision, twenty million moldavites fell onto the ground, approximately 275 to 300 tons of rock. Having spent a long time buried in the ground, they were naturally worn out and the initial mass of rock decreased considerably.
It seems that man used moldavite stone for tens of thousands years. Indeed, it has been identified in Moravia, probably used as a tool or talisman, in some human settlements dating back to the Palaeolithic. It has long been used as a bargaining chip and has always been considered a noble rock. King Solomon himself is said to have owned several of them. Even today, it is still passed on within royal families. Jewellers began working this element in the 17th century, but it had its heyday in the second half of the 19th century. Highly prized at that time, imitations began to flourish, causing its popularity to decline until the end of the 20th century. Nowadays, the stone enjoys unprecedented popularity, both as rough stone and a piece of jewellery. Today, the National Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts of the City of Prague gather the largest collection of antique Moldavite jewellery. Contemporary jewellery is exhibited in the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
Moldavite stone is a rock with a powerful energy. When you wear it, your physical presence tends to diminish in favour of other states of consciousness. In general, having this element with you while working doubles your concentration in order to avoid having to correct or totally start a task over again. On the other hand, for an action that requires intuition, such as speaking in public, this sacred rock happens to be inspiring. In such a situation, it is nevertheless recommended to wear, in parallel, an anchor rock such as black tourmaline. In this way, intuition can be channelled and the content disseminated to the audience will be much more understandable. Moldavite stone belongs to the Buddhist crystalline family. People with traits of this family generally have a need for freedom and space. Nowadays, these individuals are often referred to as “bohemians”, as is the name of the region in which some of the rocks were found. This might just be a coincidence. Unfortunately, this extraordinary rock is becoming increasingly rare. Its properties make it a much sought-after natural element, thus depleting its source more and more. Possessing such a rock represents, for many, a power allowing a real present and future transformation.
When the aforementioned meteorite hit the Earth’s atmosphere several million years ago, it dispersed as a projection. Moldavite stone therefore belongs to the family of tektites, rocks whose formation is linked to asteroid impacts. With black or bottle green colour, more or less translucent, it is essentially composed of silica, aluminium, potassium and calcium. Its chemical formula is: SiO2 + A1203, which means that it is formed from the combination of silicon dioxide and aluminium oxide. From a scientific point of view, this rock has a density between 2.3 and 2.6 and a hardness between 5.5 and 6.9 on the Mohs scale.
The sources of this rock are located in :
They can be found in the Czech Republic near the Vltava River. That is why this rock is called vltavin in Czech. However, it is called moldau in German. Doctor Josef Mayer, professor of Natural History at the Charles University in Prague, is said to have made its discovery in the 18th century in Tyn nad Vltavou, which is called Moldauthein in German. This is how the name of the rock was defined. What Dr. Mayer first thought was natural glass was in fact beryl of volcanic origin. It wasn’t until a few centuries later that the hypothesis of meteorite fall was adopted. This extremely violent collapse caused the creation of the Ries Crater. It is located in Norlingue, between Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich. Its oval shape and its diameter of 24 km make it possible to estimate the size of the asteroid at about 1 km.
The main mines have been found north of the Vltava river basin, south and west of Ceske in the Czech Republic. Moldavites have also been identified in Moravia, in the central region of the Jihlava River. Rocks that can be found in this area have a brownish colour and are called moravites. They are generally much less prized than their green cousins. Studies of the latter have shown that they contain microscopic air bubbles whose pressure is surprisingly low, 19 to 25 times lower than the sea pressure. According to the conclusions of scientists, this is proof that these elements were formed in an environment with a lower pressure such as the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Most of the specimens found and well preserved have an aerodynamic shape. This is further proof that they flew through our upper airspace before landing on our planet. This rock is therefore the only one of extraterrestrial origin known to man. Although its exact origin remains a mystery, various studies have established that it was the result of the fusion between our planet and an unknown substance present in space. Nowadays, it is mainly mined in Moravia and the Bohemian region. However, its concentration in Moravia has decreased considerably, although the specimens in question are larger than those from Bohemia. Some of these are also identified at Waldviertel in Austria, Lausitz in Germany and south of Cheb, near the German border, though in small quantities.
Moldavite stone has long been known to healers and lithotherapy enthusiasts for its outstanding properties. Connoisseurs agree that the “green fire rock” can speed up the healing process of the body and act as a catalyst for positive changes in a person’s life. This powerful rock can impress and intimidate first-time users. Its properties include strengthening and enhancing inner journeys, clairvoyance, channelling, cosmic consciousness, and expansion to inter-dimensional and extraterrestrial forces. Also known as a “transformation stone”, it is said to help in the awareness and transformation of certain problems. In addition, it would possess numerous magical powers that accelerate the transformation of consciousness by releasing energy blockages in the body and mind. It is also reputed to increase the vibrational capacities of Man and our planet.
Considered sacred and mystical, this tectite rock was used as an amulet by different ancient civilizations. Some legends relating its properties and use even date back to the time of the Atlanteans.
This tektite rock is known to stimulate the subconscious mind by releasing the flow of the chakras, especially that of the heart, thus giving access to hidden intellectual and psychic resources. It also helps to awaken buried spiritual powers such as clairvoyance or telepathy. If correctly used, it improves the effectiveness of the divinatory arts and facilitates time travel through future and past reincarnations. By acting gently on blockages, it can eliminate any resistance that hinders self-fulfilment and development.
When placed on the third eye chakra, Moldavite stone facilitates time and astral travels, allowing you to visualize your past or future lives. By acting on the psyche, aura and etheric energies, it can become a true guide along the spiritual path. It acts as a thought amplifier and helps to develop the gift of telepathy. More generally, it helps you find your unity with the universe. Of great power, it is able to open and activate any chakra, but also to move away negative waves that may approach your aura. By triggering the vibration of other surrounding stones, it is able to regenerate itself. If it is associated with the heart chakra, it will strengthen the vibrations of love.
This rock is capable of circulating energies and fluidifies the exchanges between terrestrial and cosmic flows in the organism. The wearer therefore benefits from a rebalancing and the increase of its vibration frequency reinforces its bodily functions. This is why it is often recommended to people suffering from deregulation at this level, as it purifies the channels that convey energy forces in the body.
Thanks to its power, it helps to protect you by bringing balance. Wearing Moldavite stone close to the body facilitates the opening of the chakras and helps to balance the different functions of the body. By freeing the human body from a great number of toxins, it promotes blood circulation and self-healing. Thanks to this rock, which has the ability to stimulate and align the body’s physical functions as well as the meridians, it is possible to raise the vibratory frequency of each energetic body.
