This mineral has a short history as it was only discovered in the 20th century. Sugilite stone owes its name to Sugi Kenichi (1901-1948) who first described it in 1944. This Japanese geologist and petrologist identified it in an intrusion of aegyrine and syenite located on Iwagi Islet near Kyoto, Japan. However, the land of the rising sun is not the only one with deposits. Specimens have also been mined in South Africa (Cape Province), Australia (New South Wales), Canada (Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec), India (Madhya Pradesh) and Italy (Liguria and Tuscany).
Thus, although the IMA (International Mineralogical Association) has registered it under the name sugilit, this mineral takes many other names around the world. Indeed, the deposits discovered in the Wessels mine (near Kuruma, in northwestern South Africa) are referred to as Wesselite. In the Hotazel region, also in South Africa, it is called Royal Azel. Finally, because of its colour, this mineral is also called Lavulite.
Present on different continents but relatively rare, it is found in alkaline rocks and manganese mines. In addition, although it is mainly in massive form, sugilite stone is rather exploited in crystal, in small quantities. Its chemical formula is KNa2(Fe,Mn,Al)2Li3Si12O30. In other words, it is composed of silicate of iron, sodium, potassium and lithium. Its hardness is between 5.5 and 6.5 on Mohs scale, with a density between 2.75 and 2.80. Finally, this mineral has a hexagonal crystal system. Its chromatic range goes from pale pink to purple.
Translucent or opaque, it can also be purple, lavender, yellowish, greenish or brownish. It is the combination with minerals such as crocidolites, inosilicates, pectolites, quartz and riebeckite, among others, that causes these colour variations. Sugilite is mainly used for ornamental purposes, to decorate jewellery, to compose crystal art objects and for therapeutic purposes in lithotherapy, to heal body and soul.
Wearing it then allows you to free yourself from negative energies and create an outburst of life in order to feel greater. It also helps to overcome shyness and reduce sexuality fears and disturbances such as obsessive fantasies and perverse pleasures, frigidity, impotence, insensitivity, or fear of the act itself. Thus, this mineral leads to peace of mind through moods channelling and through work on the mind. This spiritual liberator effectively opens the path of consciousness and facilitates meditation. Sugilite stone then allows you to reconnect with your higher self and to welcome love and wisdom. During the enhancement process, traumatic images may reappear before giving way to a sense of healing and well-being. Finally, its energy, when in contact with the sacred chakra, soothes the broken adult and heals his/her inner child.
Popular among the New Age, Sugilite Stone is nicknamed the Healer’s Stone. Physically, it strengthens, foremost, the entire immune system. Thus, perfect to fight against everyday worries, it facilitates cicatrisation and is particularly effective against pains, especially those on the level of the head. It also reduces genito-urinary, hormonal, lymphatic, renal and blood disorders. In addition, it helps in the management of nervous disorders by reducing feelings of hopelessness, fear or sadness. In particular, it soothes people with disorders by allowing them to refocus and look at life positively. Finally, sugilite protects against harmful waves and vibrations as well as pollution.
When treating appetite and overweight problems, it is recommended to combine this mineral with an anchor stone (brown, black or red). Added to a pink or green anchoring mineral placed on the heart chakra, sugilite treatment will then be very powerful. Having a purifying effect, this mineral soothes both on spiritual and physical pains by bringing light, protection, comfort and courage. As a complement to a therapeutic follow-up, this stone can help fight chronic disorders. Sugilite stone sis worn as a pendant to intervene on the mental and physical by working the chakras and opening the third eye. However, since this small crystal already possesses great power, slipping the jewel into your pocket may be enough. In order to take full advantage of this rare mineral, its user should concentrate on his/her path. Its use must be accompanied by a spiritual work focused on forgiveness and healing. Only this association will make it possible to overcome the difficulty.
